FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Miami, Fla. – January 26, 2018 – Magic City Casino is proud to present the Rock 2K Music Festival on Saturday, February 24 at 6 p.m. from the Magic City Amphitheater. The Y2K-ish inspired outdoor rock music festival will feature performances by Smash Mouth, Uncle Kracker, Spin Doctors and Fastball — plus an endless stream of sing-along favorites you’ll hardly believe were blasting through your radio close to two decades ago. Adding to the festivities, the Magic City Amphitheater will offer new amenities including a craft beer court and interactive recreational activities.
“Break out the body glitter, low-rise jeans and frosted tips for a celebration of the new millennium,” said Scott Savin, Chief Operating Officer of Magic City Casino. “The nostalgia level for the late 1990’s and 2000’s will be off the charts, or, as they used to say, ‘all that and a bag of chips.’”
The multi-platinum rock band Smash Mouth will blaze the stage with their hit single “Walkin’ on the Sun,” which reached the coveted top of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. The band, formed in 1994, also covered the Monkees’ classic “I’m a Believer,” which was featured in the movie Shrek and skyrocketed to No. 4 on the Billboard Adult Top 40.
Uncle Kracker, best known for his rap-rock to country-pop sound, is a long-time friend and protégé of artist Kid Rock. The laidback vocalist will perform hum-along tunes such as “Follow Me,” “Drift Away” and “Smile.” Double Wide, Uncle Kracker’s debut album, reached double-platinum status.
Grammy-nominated Spin Doctors will perform joyful classics like “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong.” Their album Pocket Full of Kryptonite generated sales of more than five million copies in the United States. The band’s lively and extensive jam sessions during performances helped to propel its wide grassroots fan base that continues to stay loyal.
Grammy-nominated pop rock group Fastball will kick off the show. The platinum-selling band shot up the charts in the late 1990’s and 2000’s with hits including “The Way” and “Out of My Head.” The group’s sound blends harmonious, Beatles-inspired pop with the alternative vibe of late 1990’s mainstream rock.
The show is open to all ages. Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased online at www.magiccitycasino.com or by calling 844-234-SHOW.
